Police seized an AK-47 rifle and nearly 300 rounds of ammunition during a targeted operation on Glasspole Avenue in Rockfort, Kingston 3, on Friday.
Officers from the Kingston Eastern Police Division conducted searches between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., leading to the discovery of the assault rifle hidden in a white plastic pipe at the back of a bush-covered property. A further search uncovered 248 rounds of 9mm ammunition and 50 rounds of 5.56 cartridges stored separately.
Police said the operation was intelligence-driven and aimed at locating illegal weapons. No arrests were made in connection with the seizure, and investigations are continuing as officers work to determine who is responsible for the firearm and ammunition.
