Light Earthquake Recorded Near Goshen in St Elizabeth

A 3.1-magnitude earthquake lightly shook parts of St Elizabeth early Monday morning, according to the Earthquake Unit. The tremor occurred at 2:24 am on December 1 near Goshen at a depth of 10 kilometres.

Residents reported mild shaking, but there were no immediate signs of injuries or structural damage. The Earthquake Unit classified the event as a minor seismic occurrence and continues to monitor the area as part of its ongoing early-warning and reporting responsibilities.

Authorities say no impact has been reported, and monitoring will continue as part of Jamaica’s routine seismic surveillance.
