A tropical wave moving across the Windward Islands is being closely monitored by the National Hurricane Center (NHC) as it enters the Caribbean Sea.
In its 8:00 a.m. Sunday bulletin, the NHC reported that the system is producing heavy rainfall and gusty winds across parts of the Eastern Caribbean. Although rapid movement will limit development in the short term, forecasters say it has a 60 percent chance of strengthening once it slows down.
The Meteorological Service of Jamaica expects partly cloudy skies and isolated morning showers in eastern parishes on National Heroes’ Day, with scattered thunderstorms later across central and western areas.
No tropical storm warnings have been issued for Jamaica, but forecasters advise continued monitoring of official weather updates as the system progresses westward.
