Prime Minister Holness Condemns Linstead Murders as “Criminal Terror”

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has condemned the brutal murder of five people, including a four-year-old child, in Commodore, Linstead, St. Catherine, calling it an “act of criminal terror.” The Prime Minister, who visited the community on Monday, met with grieving families and pledged full government support, including counselling and social assistance.

“This crime amounts to what I would describe as an act of criminal terror. It is designed to bring on the people of the community the highest level of fear and to undermine the effectiveness of the State,” Holness said.

The Government has also announced a monetary reward for information leading to the arrest and charge of those responsible for the killings. Holness urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement, emphasizing that the fight against crime requires unity.

“We can do even better if every Jamaican were to agree that the criminals must be dealt with. We will not protect them. We will not speak on their behalf,” he said.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the State’s commitment to bringing justice to the victims and maintaining a long-term police presence in the area to prevent reprisals.
