Express Catering Limited (ECL), the company operating food and beverage outlets at Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport, has reported stronger first-quarter results for fiscal 2026.
Net profit rose to US $1.5 million, up from US $1.0 million in 2024, while earnings per share climbed to 0.092 US cents. The average passenger spend rate slipped slightly from US$9.70 to US$9.64, but improved cost controls boosted profitability.
The cost-of-sales ratio fell to 25.65 percent, down from 29.95 percent the year before. CEO Ian Dear and Chairman Andrew Spencer credited fixed-price ingredient contracts and tighter inventory oversight for the gains.
Passenger traffic through the airport increased 5.5 percent year-over-year to more than 704,000 travelers, aided by easing travel advisories and tourism growth. Total revenue for the quarter was US $6.8 million, representing a 4.78 percent increase.
With over 1,000 new hotel rooms added island-wide in 2025 and continued private development, management expects steady growth heading into the winter tourist season.
