A man identified as Kevin “Bingie” Rouldson, a 40-year-old alleged gang leader, was shot and killed during a police operation in the Golden Acres area of Red Hills, St Andrew, on Saturday morning.
Police say Rouldson, believed to be a top-tier member of the Bottom York Avenue Gang, opened fire on officers conducting an intelligence-led operation. Lawmen returned fire, fatally wounding him.
A 9mm pistol was seized from the scene. No officers were injured.
Rouldson was wanted for multiple crimes, including murders, shootings, and car thefts in the Waltham Park and Cockburn Pen areas.
Authorities say the incident is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle violent criminal networks operating across the Corporate Area. The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is investigating the incident, as is standard procedure in police-involved shootings.
Police have urged residents to cooperate with ongoing investigations and report any information related to gang activity.
