Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the $2.3 billion St Catherine North Police Headquarters now being built in Spanish Town will usher in a new era of development for the old capital.
During a tour of the site on Wednesday, Holness described the project as a “security guarantee” that will help attract future investments and reduce risks for private developers. The facility, funded through the CAPEX Programme, is designed to house 300 officers and features modern amenities including a jogging trail, futsal court, parking areas, and a sewer-treatment plant.
Minister of Culture and St Catherine Central MP Olivia Grange welcomed the project, noting that it will strengthen ties between citizens and the police. Local business operators have already reported renewed interest in the area as confidence grows.
The new police headquarters is expected to improve operational efficiency, enhance safety, and boost community development. Completion is projected for April 2027.
