Portland, Jamaica – The shooting death of Portland businessman Albert "Bugsie" Lindsay on Thursday morning has sent shockwaves throughout the Anchovy Land Settlement community. Lindsay's murder marks the fifth killing in the parish, and the second in two days, raising concerns about escalating violence in the area.
Incident Details
According to police reports, Lindsay, who operated the well-known eatery Hanna Bananas, was gunned down shortly after 8 a.m. at his home. Residents reportedly heard several loud explosions, believed to be gunfire, and immediately alerted the authorities.
Upon arrival, police officers discovered Lindsay lying motionless on his back, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. He was later pronounced dead by a doctor.
Attack on Lindsay
Investigators believe that Lindsay was at home when someone called out to him from outside. When he stepped onto the verandah to respond, he was allegedly ambushed and shot multiple times by his attacker.
Investigation Underway
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) in Port Antonio processed the crime scene as part of their ongoing investigation.
Authorities have yet to determine a motive for the killing and are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in their inquiries.
